The Tiny Dino's Big Roar

In a green and gentle fern valley long, long ago, where the twilight sky glows amber and coral and a far-off volcano shimmers soft and orange, the very smallest dinosaur is Dot — with the tiniest squeak of a voice you ever did hear. The big dinosaurs have big, booming roars, but when Dot tries, out comes only a squeak, and nobody seems to hear. Dot wishes he were bigger; he feels too little to ever be heard. Then one dusky evening his best friend Fern wanders too far, scrambles up a high rocky ledge, and gets stuck as the valley goes dark — and the grown-ups are far, far across the valley. Only Dot is near. His heart pounds: what if his voice is too small? But when he sees Fern alone and frightened, Dot knows that being brave isn't about being big. He plants his little feet, takes the deepest breath his tiny chest can hold, and ROARS with all his heart — 'I may be small, but I can ROAR!' His biggest, bravest sound rolls across the whole valley; the grown-ups hear, come gently thundering through the ferns with fireflies glowing like little lanterns, and lift Fern safely down. As the moon rises high, Dot learns that his voice had been big enough all along — it just took a little courage to let it roar.

A wide view of a lush green prehistoric fern valley at warm amber-and-coral twilight — tall ferns and palms, a calm winding river, a rising crescent moon, the first star, soft fireflies, and a far-off volcano glowing soft orange.

In a green and gentle valley, long, long ago, the ferns grew tall and the warm sky glowed amber and coral. As the first star blinked awake and a far-off mountain glimmered soft and orange, the dinosaurs settled in for the evening.

Little Dot, the smallest green baby dinosaur with darker-green spots and big gentle eyes, stands among the tall ferns by the river, looking up, very small beside the big plants.

In all the valley, the very smallest dinosaur was Dot. He had soft green skin, little spots, and the tiniest squeak of a voice you ever did hear.
