Who we are
MoonNest ("we") makes bedtime stories for families. This policy explains what information we handle when you use the MoonNest app or this website, and why. Contact us anytime at [email protected].
What we collect
Account. You can create an account in one of two ways. If you sign up with email, we store your email address and a securely hashed password (we never store your password itself); we send a one-time code to confirm the address. If you use Sign in with Apple, we receive a private account identifier and, if you choose to share it, your name. Either way, we use these details only to sign you in and, if needed, to help you reset your password or recover your account.
Child profile. You may add your child's first name, age, and story preferences so stories can be personalized. This is provided by you, the parent — we never collect information from children directly.
Purchases. Subscriptions and credits are billed by Apple through the App Store. We receive purchase records to unlock your content; we never see your payment details.
Your voice (optional). You can record your voice to narrate stories. Recordings are made by you and used only to play stories in your voice — see Your voice & your photos.
Photos (optional). When you create a personalized story, you may upload a photo of your child. It is used solely to generate the story artwork you requested, and the uploaded photo is deleted after processing, with an automated cleanup that removes any leftovers.
Legacy waitlist email. If you joined the website waitlist before MoonNest launched, we stored your email address to notify you about launch and delete stale entries. We do not operate a marketing list or resell this data.
How we use your information
Only to run MoonNest: sign you in, personalize stories, unlock what you've purchased, and remember where you left off. Never for advertising, and never for profiling.
Children's privacy (COPPA)
MoonNest is designed for children to use together with a parent. All account setup, purchases, recordings and uploads sit behind parent-only controls. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and we do not show ads or include social features of any kind.
Your voice & your photos
Recordings and photos are optional, made by you, and used only for the features you choose. If you explicitly enable it, your recording is used to create a private voice model that reads other stories in your voice. Voice narration is powered by a trusted partner (ElevenLabs), which processes your sample only to build your own family's narration voice — never to train general-purpose AI, and never for anyone else. Your voice is never shared with other users, and you can delete it anytime; deletion removes the recording, the narration voice, and our partner's copy. The photo you upload for a personalized story is used solely to generate the artwork you requested and is deleted after processing, with an automated cleanup that removes any leftovers. Any artwork you keep stays with your account and is deletable anytime.
Third-party services
We use a small number of service providers to run MoonNest — cloud hosting for accounts and content, Apple for sign-in and billing, and AI services (including ElevenLabs for voice narration) that generate narration and artwork strictly from the material you submit. Providers process data only on our instructions. We never sell your data.
Data retention & deletion
We keep your data only while you have an account. Delete your account in the app (Profile → Settings) and your profile, child info, recordings and photos are removed. Photos uploaded for story creation don't wait for account deletion — they're deleted after processing (see "What we collect").
Your rights (GDPR & CCPA)
EU, UK and California residents have additional rights to access, correct, export and erase their data. Email [email protected] and we'll honor them.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit, access is restricted per-account at the database level, and we deliberately collect too little to be an interesting target.
