The Thank-You Star

High above the sleeping world, Pip the fox pilot zip-zip-zooms through the night sky, the bravest little flier in all of space. On her dashboard glows a small, soft star-lamp — but Pip pays it no mind, for out beyond the planets glitters the BIGGEST, brightest comet she has ever seen, and she means to chase it. Faster and faster she flies, past rings and silver moons, laughing that she needs no little lamp. Then a meteor shower clatters out of the dark and — CLICK — every light goes out. Alone in the inky black, with no comet and no way home, Pip pulls her knees close and whispers into the quiet. And just then a flicker appears: her little star-lamp, still shining, still warm, still waiting to be seen. Thank you, little light, for shining through the night, Pip whispers — and by its gentle glow she finds her wheel, her map, and the long way home. That night she does not chase the comet. She nestles close to the smallest light of all, the one she is most thankful for.

A wide establishing shot of deep space — a tiny silver rocket streaks across an enormous starry sky, with glowing stars hanging like lanterns and a soft moon far below.

High above the sleeping world, where the sky turns black and the stars hang like lanterns, a little rocket went zip-zip-zooming through the night. Inside sat Pip, the bravest fox pilot in all of space.

A close shot inside the cockpit — Pip's eager face is lit by a small glowing star-lamp on her dashboard, while a huge dazzling comet blazes through the window ahead.

On Pip's dashboard blinked a small, soft star-lamp — her very own little light. But Pip wasn't looking at it. Out beyond the planets glittered the BIGGEST, brightest comet she had ever seen. I'm going to chase that comet! she cheered.
