The New Kid at the Playground

At golden dusk, Maple Park is full of play, and Theo loves it best of all. Then a new girl named Mei comes through the gate, knowing no one, and stands quietly at the edge while every game already has someone. Nobody notices her — until Theo does. His tummy flutters: what if she says no? But he knows just how lonely that feels, so he takes a breath, walks right over, and holds out his hand: "Want to play? Come this way!" One small hello turns the quiet edge of the playground into the very best part of the day.
